Team Secret makes roster change: pieliedie out, YapzOr in

Team Secret’s Longest-Serving Player Pieliedie Leaves

Team Secret has announced the departure of Johan ‘pieliedie’ Åström, one of their most iconic and long-serving players. The news comes as a surprise to the Dota 2 community, as Pieliedie had been with Team Secret for nearly two years, making him one of the longest-tenured players in the professional scene. After leaving mousesports, Pieliedie joined Team Secret in September 2015 as a five position support. During his time with the organization, Pieliedie helped win multiple major tournaments, including The Shanghai Major in February 2015.

Pieliedie’s recent departure from Team Secret follows a series of disappointing results for the team. Despite winning the European Qualifiers for the Kiev Major and performing well in group stages, they were eliminated in the first round of playoffs by the relatively unknown Brazilian squad, SG-esports.

However, Pieliedie quickly found a new home. Team NP, a North American team, announced shortly after Team Secret’s announcement that Pieliedie would be joining their roster for the lead-up to The International 2017. At Team NP, Pieliedie reunites with many of his former teammates on Cloud9, including Kurtis “Aui_2000” Ling and Jacky “EternaLEnVy” Mao.

In addition to Pieliedie’s departure, Team Secret also revealed that they have acquired Jordanian support player Yazied “YapzOr” Jaradat, who previously played for the short-lived European team, B)Ears. In a note titled “The Road to The International 2017,” Team Secret stated that Clement “Puppey” Ivanov would be transitioning to the hard support role, while YapzOr would take on the semi-support role. The team’s current lineup consists of Noa “MP” Pyo, Nai Zheng “MidOne” Yeik, Maurice “KheZu” Gutmann, YapzOr, and Puppey.

Team Secret’s new lineup will make its debut in the European qualifiers for DreamLeague Season 7, as well as at the Manila Masters later this month.
