Evil Geniuses Dominate LGD Gaming in The Chongqing Major Lower Bracket
Evil Geniuses have been playing aggressively since being relegated to the lower bracket at The Chongqing Major. This was evident in their intense showdown against LGD Gaming, where they emerged victorious on the Chinese team’s home turf. Prior to their match against LGD, EG had already defeated EHOME (champions of The Kuala Lumpur Minor) with a 2-0 scoreline. In the first game of their series against LGD, EG came out on top, thanks to Artour “Arteezy” Babaev’s impressive performance, finishing with a 12-3 game.
In the second game, EG had the option to play more cautiously, but instead, they chose to go all out against LGD, aiming for an early victory. SumaiL Hassan stepped up and delivered an outstanding performance. Within the first 10 minutes of the game, SumaiL dealt a staggering 8,373 damage to the opposing team’s heroes, the highest in that time frame for the entire event. His brilliant play continued as his Timbersaw hero helped EG survive a brutal battle against one of China’s top Dota 2 teams. SumaiL ended the game with 13 kills, four deaths, and over 45,000 total hero damage.
With this win, EG not only advances to the lower bracket finals against Team Secret, securing a top three finish in the Major, but they also reaffirm their dominance over Chinese teams competing on their home soil. Throughout the event, EG has triumphed over Vici Gaming, Team Aster, EHOME, and LGD Gaming, only dropping one game against Vici. Their record of 8-1 against the field showcases their exceptional performance.
The match between EG and Team Secret is scheduled for Jan. 26 at 10pm CT to determine who will face Virtus Pro in the grand finals of The Chongqing Major.
