Twitch Promises Fix for Unintentionally Canceled Subscriptions

Twitch, the popular streaming platform, has taken action after receiving multiple reports of unintentionally canceled subscriptions. In an effort to address the issue, Twitch has promised to fix the problem and restore broken streaks for those affected.

The Investigation

On April 10, Twitch’s official support page released a tweet confirming that they had investigated the reports of “unexpectedly canceled subs.” They discovered that some longstanding, recurring subscriptions did not renew as expected during March and April. Twitch ruled out any updates as the cause of the issue, stating that it was an isolated incident unrelated to any Twitch updates.

Twitch’s Response

Recognizing the inconvenience caused to streamers and viewers, Twitch has apologized for the issue. They have assured the community that they are working with their payment partner to correct the problem. Twitch believes that the chaos may have been caused by a bug in the payment gateway.

Unfortunately, this is not the first time Twitch has experienced issues with renewing subscriptions. Past incidents have led to confusion within the community, affecting both streamers and viewers. Streamers not only lose out on revenue but also engagement when their subscription streaks are interrupted unexpectedly.

A Promise to Restore

To address this problem, Twitch has promised to fix the cause and restore any subscription streaks that were broken as a result. It is recommended that affected users keep an eye on Twitch Support’s page for upcoming instructions and steps. This may involve submitting and answering a few things before the company can fully restore the streaks.

Furthermore, Twitch plans to discuss this issue in their next patch notes, scheduled for Wednesday, April 17 at 2pm CT, providing users with additional information and updates.
