Gothalion Returns to Twitch After a 3-Year Break from Streaming on Mixer and Facebook

Cory “Gothalion” Michael Returns to Twitch After 3-Year Hiatus from Platform

Cory “Gothalion” Michael, famously known as KingGothalion, is making a long-awaited comeback to Twitch this week. After spending the last 24 months on Facebook Gaming, Gothalion is making a “homecoming” to his original platform.

Gothalion has been streaming on Facebook Gaming for nearly two years, where he gained popularity as a variety streamer. He has played a wide range of games, including recent favorites like The Cycle: Frontier and V Rising, as well as his original claim to fame, Destiny 2.

Prior to his time on Facebook, Gothalion spent ten months on Mixer. However, he left after Microsoft discontinued Mixer in June 2020.

Gothalion’s fans eager to watch his comeback stream will have to wait a bit longer. Although he announced his return via a “homecoming” video on Twitter, Gothalion won’t actually go live until Wednesday.

Speaking to his fans, Gothalion mentioned that his Twitch channel won’t be searchable until he goes live on Wednesday. But he assured them that his partnership button will become active as soon as Twitch clicks it live, even if it’s currently a holiday.

“My timeline is filled with so much love,” he added. “I’m a bit overwhelmed.”

Gothalion’s return to Twitch is another blow to Facebook Gaming in the ongoing battle for exclusivity. While YouTube has successfully acquired several prominent Twitch streamers in recent months, Facebook has faced significant losses.

Before Gothalion, Facebook Gaming lost Disguised Toast, but managed to retain stars like Alodia Gosiengfiao, Akosi Dogie, and Chooxtv, as well as the streaming rights to Mobile Legends: Bang Bang.

From what we understand, Gothalion doesn’t have an exclusive streaming agreement.

Gothalion returns to a dedicated Twitch channel that still has over 924,000 followers. Although his previous VODs have been cleared over the past three years, his channel branding has already been updated to reflect his comeback.

Gothalion is the last of the Mixer alumni to return to Twitch, following Michael “Shroud” Grzesiek and Tyler “Ninja” Blevins, who both made their comebacks soon after Mixer’s collapse in 2020.
