Prize Pool of International 2016 Reaches $10 Million

The International Dota 2 Championship 2016: Record-Breaking Prize Pool Expected

The International Dota 2 Championship 2016 is set to surpass last year’s prize pool numbers.

Last year, the International Dota 2 Championships 2015 made history by having the largest eSports prize pool, with over $18 million in winnings. Evil Geniuses walked away with a whopping $6 million. Valve, the organizer of the championship, has always used crowdfunding to increase the prize pool for Dota 2. This year, in just 18 days, the crowdfunding for Dota 2 International 2016 reached an impressive $10,250,153.

The tournament will take place in August, giving the prize pool more time to grow. Last year, fans managed to raise $10 million in 30 days, making it the fastest crowdfunding TI prize pool. This year, Valve released the Collector’s Cache to the Battle Pass, which is exclusive to Battle Pass owners and costs $1.99.

With several months to go before the tournament, it appears that fans are on track to make this year’s International prize pool the largest ever for Dota 2.

The main event for the International 2016 will take place from August 8-11 at the KeyArena in Seattle, WA. If you’re interested in attending, you can purchase tickets on Ticketmaster’s website.
