Sharp Gaming officially becomes part of Betfred Group after successful £100 million transfer

Betfred, the world’s greatest independent bookmaker, is pleased to announce the rebranding of Sharp Gaming as Betfred’s Technology department, following the successful £100 million migration of all Betfred customers on a single, proprietary platform.

The Transition and Leadership

Andrew Daniels, CEO of Sharp Gaming, has taken over as Betfred’s new Chief Information Officer. He will be responsible for the Betfred Group’s entire IT and technology infrastructure. Sharp Gaming sprang from Daniels’ previous firm, Degree 53, in 2020. With an initial investment of £25 million, Fred Done, the Betfred CEO, commended Daniels as a “little genius,” which led to the Betfred Group acquiring Sharp Gaming a year later.

Reflections and Future Prospects

In response to the migration milestone, Andrew Daniels thanked his team for a smooth transfer and expressed his excitement for his new role as the company’s CIO. Betfred’s dedicated proprietary platform will run a variety of technologies including player account management, sportsbooks, gaming aggregation, remote gaming servers, applications, and websites. This platform is designed to drive innovation in betting and gaming products, expanding the Betfred Group’s global reach and effect.

CEO’s perspective

Betfred’s CEO, Joanne Whittaker, stressed the importance of Sharp Gaming joining the Betfred family, which marks a watershed moment in the company’s history. She thanked Andy and his team for their efforts in making the relocation a reality, describing it as a unique and exciting milestone for Betfred’s operations and future plans.

This move is another significant step forward in Betfred Group’s expansion and goals, firmly establishing the company’s position as a worldwide gaming leader.
