The SOFTSWISS Sportsbook team has shared valuable insights indicating that in Q3’23, there was a remarkable 37% higher average bet on League of Legends compared to football. This data highlights the growing popularity of esports in the sports betting industry.
Traditional Top 5 Sports by Number of Bets
Football, Tennis, Basketball, Table tennis, and Baseball were the top 5 sports in terms of the number of bets placed. These statistics were expected and didn’t bring any surprises.
Growth of Esports in Betting
Counter-Strike and League of Legends continue to dominate the world of esports betting, with League of Legends surpassing football with a 37% higher average bet. Additionally, Dota 2 has become the most profitable category for betting. This emphasizes the hidden potential of esports, especially during the low season of traditional summer sports.
Increase in Mobile Betting
Compared to Q3 2022, this year’s Q3 witnessed a notable increase in the number of bets, turnover, and gross gaming revenue (GGR) generated through mobile devices. Mobile betting accounted for a significant 80% of total bets, indicating a growing trend of players opting for the convenience of betting on their mobile phones, especially for live betting scenarios.
Head of SOFTSWISS Sportsbook, Alexander Kamenetskyi, is pleased with the sustained growth and attributed it to the dedication, professionalism, and commitment to innovation demonstrated by the team. The number of bets has increased by 438% compared to the same period last year, and the GGR has surged by an astounding 523%.
The SOFTSWISS Sportsbook recently obtained the vital GLI-33 certification, signaling its expansion into new regulated markets. The team will be present at Stand 2129 during the SiGMA Europe event in Malta on November 14-16, offering opportunities for networking and showcasing their product.
