By Declan Duffy

The exciting end of January and start of February event in Pokémon Go is here with the Crackling Voltage event! Players can catch lots of Electric Pokémon. There are new research tasks and rewards too.

Shiny Helioptile, Shiny Heliolisk, and Shiny Tapu Koko are making their first appearances. Besides these shinies, there’s more fun from Jan. 27 to Feb. 5. You have a better chance to find a Shiny Helioptile now.

Starting Feb 1, watch out for the Team Go Rocket Takeover. It’s part of the Crackling Voltage fun and introduces new Shadow Pokémon. Expect to see Shadow versions of Alolan Vulpix, Spoink, Blitzle, and Joltik.

Team Go Rocket will be everywhere. You’ll find them at PokéStops and in balloons. Watch for Giovanni. He’s showing up with Shadow Registeel for the first time. You can catch Shadow Registeel until Pokémon Go’s season nine ends on March 1.

While this event is longer, Niantic didn’t add Timed or Special Research for Crackling Voltage. However, you can still find new Field Research tasks and rewards at PokéStops and Gyms.

The Field Research might seem simple, but it offers rare Pokémon encounters. Make sure to finish these tasks and grab your rewards.
