ESL One Genting: Newbee and Evil Geniuses Advance to Semifinals
Fresh off the intense Galaxy Battles II tournament, the Dota 2 Pro Circuit is heating up with ESL One Genting. As an official Pro Circuit Minor event, teams are competing for a share of the $400,000 prize pool and 400 qualification points.
The playoffs for ESL One Genting kicked off yesterday, featuring single-elimination matches between Newbee and Vici Gaming, as well as Evil Geniuses and Virtus Pro. With no lower bracket, all the teams had to give their best shot.
In the first match, Newbee faced Vici Gaming, who has been a strong contender in the Chinese Dota 2 scene. However, Newbee dominated with a 2-0 victory in games that lasted around 30 minutes each. They showcased superior teamwork and strategy, with player Kpii’s Enigma performance standing out.
Evil Geniuses then took on Virtus Pro, their long-time rivals. EG continued their winning streak against Virtus Pro with a clean 2-0 victory. Despite VP’s risky decision to give Lycan, a powerful hero, to EG, EG’s players Fear and SumaiL displayed outstanding performances with their respective heroes.
Today, the semifinals begin with Team Secret facing Newbee at 2am ET. You can catch all the action on the ESL One website or their official Facebook page.
