Upcoming Durability Changes in Patch 12.10 to Impact Healing in League

League of Legends to Receive Massive Overhaul to Durability Systems

In a recent update, Riot Games announced that League of Legends will undergo a major overhaul to its durability systems by the end of the month. This decision comes after multiple patches where the damage done by champions was considered excessive. The update will also address healing in the game, according to Riot Truexy, associate game designer on the Summoner’s Rift team for League, who revealed the information on Twitter.

Healing has become a significant factor in winning games of League of Legends over the past year. Champions who don’t have natural healing abilities in their kits often rely on powerful items to sustain themselves.

“The goal of the nerfs is to keep the relative value of healing/shielding about the same as the systems around them change,” Truexy explained on Twitter. “If your HP is worth more, healing and shielding are inherently stronger if unchanged.”

In addition to healing, the update will also bring changes to Grievous Wounds, which reduce the ability of enemies to heal. The extent of these changes is still unclear, but it is expected that a decrease in healing will result in a decreased effect from Grievous Wounds. Truexy did not mention any potential changes to shielding.

As part of the durability update, all champions in League of Legends will receive adjustments to their innate health, armor, and magic resist. These changes will make each champion feel tankier while dealing less damage, leading to significant shifts in the meta.

Riot acknowledges that burst champions, such as specific mages and assassins, may be negatively impacted by this update. Therefore, the development team will closely monitor the changes when they go live in Patch 12.10.

Stay tuned for more updates on this upcoming overhaul that will reshape the gameplay experience in League of Legends.
