Former Pro Lee “Rush” Yoon-jae Encounters Overpowered Aphelios

The newest marksman in League of Legends has been causing quite a stir, and former pro player Lee “Rush” Yoon-jae got a taste of why.

During a recent Twitch stream, Rush faced off against Aphelios and witnessed firsthand the champion’s insane damage and range.

After dispatching the enemy Karthus with Zed’s shadows, Rush turned his attention to Aphelios. Despite using his ultimate ability, Death Mark (R), Rush was unable to eliminate the AD carry and was swiftly defeated in less than a second. But the chaos didn’t end there.

From the death screen, Rush watched as Aphelios singlehandedly took out two more players from his team, utilizing the power of the Crescendum Chakram and Sentry. The turret marked Rush’s ally, Thresh, and Aphelios made quick work of him. Mistakenly, Senna also fell victim to the sentry’s mark, allowing the AD carry to eliminate her from long range.

In frustration, Rush exclaimed, “What is actually happening, though? What the fuck is that?”

Aphelios Nerfs in Patch 10.3

Aphelios has been a recurring problem in the League community, prompting Riot to continuously nerf the champion. Patch 10.3 will mark the fourth consecutive update targeting his overloaded kit. Specifically, the maximum range of Aphelios’ Calibrum marks will be reduced from infinite to 2,000.

Despite his overpowered abilities, Aphelios currently maintains a 48-percent win rate, as reported by Champion.gg. This is likely due to the champion’s complexity and steep learning curve.
