League of Legends Patch 14.7: Kayn and Smolder to Receive Buffs
League of Legends Patch 14.7 is just around the corner, and that means it’s time for the usual patch preview. However, for those hoping to avoid Kayn and Smolder in the game, there’s some bad news. Both champions will be receiving buffs once again, after being tuned a bit too much in the previous update.
Champions Getting Adjustments in Patch 14.7
Lead gameplay designer Matt “Phroxzon” Leung-Harrison has revealed the 16 champions that will receive adjustments in League Patch 14.7. In a post on X(formerly Twitter), Phroxzon mentioned that the team is satisfied with the state of most champions. However, Kayn and Smolder are exceptions to this. The nerfs in the previous patch were considered too severe for them.
Kayn and Smolder’s Buff
Phroxzon stated that the team aims to bring Kayn and Smolder back to about halfway from where they were before. Both champions received nerfs in the previous patch after dominating professional and ranked play in March. While Kayn’s Reaping Slash received a slight buff, his ultimate damage was reduced. Riot also adjusted Smolder’s execute and reduced the width of his W ability.
Kayn’s Struggle on Summoner’s Rift
Kayn has always been a challenging champion for League players to master on Summoner’s Rift. Currently, he has a disappointing win rate of 47.92 percent across all ranks, according to stat tracking site U.GG. Not everyone is pleased with the planned buffs for Kayn, as some fans expressed their dissatisfaction on social media platforms.
Smolder’s Performance in Ranked Games
Smolder hasn’t fared much better, despite having an above-average win rate in League’s professional leagues this split. With a win rate of 47.54 percent at all ranks and even lower in higher tiers like Emerald and above, Smolder currently ranks last among the popular ADC picks in ranked games.
