Riot Games Partners with ZOMBGiEF to Create Gift for Tyler1

Riot Games has collaborated with artist ZOMBGiEF to create a framed drawing for popular streamer Tyler “Tyler1” Steinkamp, according to an announcement on Twitter. The project was also discussed on Reddit, where ZOMBGiEF shared additional details. Riot Games approached the artist with the idea and provided feedback throughout the creation process, similar to the giant mural created for Michael “Imaqtpie” Santana last year.

The Drawing’s Message to Tyler1

The drawing was meant to convey a message of support to Tyler1 for the upcoming season. Tyler1 is a prominent figure in the League of Legends Twitch community and his absence would be felt by many. The drawing depicted Tyler1 as the character Draven, writing “I will not be toxic next season” on a chalkboard, with Professor Ryze, representing Riot Games, observing nearby.

Riot’s Perspective on Tyler1

Riot Games employee Nathan “Blaustoise” Blau commented on Reddit, stating that it has been interesting to see Tyler1 merchandise flood the Riot office following his unbanning. Blau also mentioned that this kind of collaboration was considered taboo during the drama surrounding Tyler1 in 2017.

A Positive Signal for Future Collaborations

The finished drawing was kept secret until Tyler1 revealed it on stream. The framed piece was sent to Tyler1 over the holidays, and he recently opened it. While not as large-scale as the previous mural, this collaboration signifies Riot Games’ commitment to working with community creators in 2019. This is a promising development for both Riot and the community.
