Riot Games Reveals Major Map Changes for League of Legends 2024 Season

Riot Games has announced significant alterations to Summoner’s Rift for the upcoming 2024 season of League of Legends. These changes, which will affect the top, middle, and bottom lanes, involve adjustments to terrain and brush placements, including the addition of new pathways in the jungle.

One major change is the mirroring of the top lane terrain on both the blue and red sides of the map. Additionally, a new wall and brush location have been added at the middle of the river entrance. These modifications will ensure equal movement opportunities for junglers on both sides and provide better chances for ganks and ambushes.

A similar approach has been taken for the bottom lane, with the terrain now being mirrored on both sides. This symmetrical design aims to create a more balanced playing field without any significant advantages for either side. The changes will require teams to use effective vision to detect potential enemy players preparing for ganks.

The jungle will feature a new wall across from the Baron Nashor and dragon pits, facilitating smoother movement in the area. This addition will also create unique teamfight angles, allowing teams to surprise their enemies by jumping over the wall during attempts to secure the Baron or dragon.

These changes aim to promote more balanced gameplay across all lanes. The adjustments made to the top, middle, and bottom lanes will ensure similar risks and opportunities when pushing waves or engaging, as both sides have equal chances to respond along the same routes as their opposing jungler.

The mid lane adjustments specifically benefit immobile champions and may solidify their positions in the meta. As more pathways open up, vision will play a crucial role in detecting ambushes and enabling effective team combos.

Summoners will have the opportunity to test out these changes when they become available on the League of Legends PBE on November 20th.
