JD Gaming Mid Laner Tests Positive for COVID-19 Ahead of League of Legends Worlds 2022 Quarterfinals

JD Gaming’s mid laner, Zeng “Yagao” Qi, has tested positive for COVID-19 before the knockout stage of the League of Legends Worlds 2022 Championship. According to JDG’s Twitter announcement, Yagao’s health is stable, and he is currently undergoing rehabilitation.

It is uncertain whether Yagao will be able to participate in JDG’s quarterfinal match against Rogue remotely. JDG is diligently working with officials to follow all protocols and prioritize the well-being of their players. The match is scheduled for October 20.

Players infected with COVID-19 have the option to compete from isolated rooms during Worlds 2022. While most infected players play remotely, some teams have had to compete off-stage when their entire lineup tests positive. Fortunately, JDG won’t have to travel for the quarterfinals, as they will be held at the Hulu Theatre in Madison Square Garden, New York. However, the semifinals will take place at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia.

JDG is set to face off against Rogue tomorrow at 4pm CT.
