G2 Esports Jungler Unhappy with League of Legends Metagame Changes

G2 Esports jungler Marcin “Jankos” Jankowski is feeling defeated by the current state of the 2020 League of Legends metagame. On his stream yesterday, Jankos expressed confusion over Riot’s decision to buff solo lane XP while simultaneously nerfing the jungle. He questioned if Riot’s intention was to make junglers similar to supports in the current meta.

The dragon pit has become the focal point of season 10, bringing significant changes to the metagame and altering Summoner’s Rift. While the community has largely embraced the new dragon buffs and their impact on the map, the experience changes have left junglers feeling dissatisfied.

According to Jankos, the difference between support and jungle is the presence of crowd control and wards. If Riot were to give junglers wards, Jankos believes he could adapt to the changes easily.

In the lead-up to 2020, top and mid laners saw a two-percent increase in experience, while the bot lane experienced a decrease of 2.4 percent. In a surprising turn, jungle camp experience was reduced by a staggering four percent. The reasons behind these changes remain unclear, but their effects on the meta have been significant.

Jankos reminisces about “playing in the meta when I was just a dog.” While being a dog wasn’t ideal, he managed to survive even without getting many resources. However, at the very least, he hopes for the addition of wards to make the jungle role more viable.

Jankos will return to action in the 2020 LEC Spring Split on Friday, Jan. 31, when G2 faces off against Vitality at 1pm CT.
