DAMWON KIA Reveals 2022 LCK Roster on Twitch
DAMWON KIA, one of the most highly anticipated esports teams, has officially announced its 2022 LCK roster on its Twitch channel.
The team has welcomed three new players to its roster: Noh “Burdol” Tae-Yun, former Gen.G toplaner, and Seo “deokdam” Dae-Gil and Kim “Kellin” Hyung-Gyu from Nongshim RedForce’s 2021 bot lane.
Jungler Kim “Canyon” Geon-Bu and midlaner Heo “ShowMaker” Su, who have been with the organization for several seasons, will continue to be part of the roster for 2022. Their contracts were renegotiated to keep them on the team.
Despite fans expecting Jang “Nuguri” Ha-Gwon to return to the toplane after his 2020 Worlds victory with the team, rookie Burdol was chosen instead. Nuguri, who left FPX, has not announced his team for the upcoming season yet.
In the 2021 season, DWG KIA had a dominant performance, winning both LCK Splits and finishing as runner-ups in MSI. However, they narrowly missed the opportunity to win the Summoner’s Cup for the second time, losing to EDward Gaming in a full five-game series at the World Championship finals.
While most of DK’s players have changed for the next season, coaches Lee “Daeny” Dae-In and Lee “Zefa” Jae-Min, who were part of the team when they won Worlds in 2020, returned to the organization last summer. Additionally, veteran coach Kim “kkOma” Jeong-Gyun will remain with the team.
Despite the changes, DWG KIA has retained some strong members on their roster as they aim to defend their LCK titles and make a mark at Worlds in 2022.
