Eager League of Legends fans have today had their Arcane Season Two drought ended (at least a tiny bit) with a 12-second teaser offering a glimpse of what is yet to come.
The new Arcane teaser trailer, shared by Riot Games across several social media platforms, features Vi standing by Caitlyn, who is dressed in what appears to be an uncomfortable enforcer’s uniform. This dress is reminiscent of her splash art from League, with a belt in the middle and a pink frill on the side.
While League fans were immediately enamored with Vi and Caitlyn’s new looks, something else popped out: the youngster on the right with ginger hair resembles Marcus’s daughter from season one, implying a very fascinating future subplot.
The noticeable age gap between Marcus’s daughter in season one, who was represented as a young girl, and the woman in the teaser, who has a striking resemblance but appears substantially older, suggests a significant time jump. This could imply that her engagement with the enforcers was motivated by vengeance against Jinx, who killed her father on the bridge before her terrible fight with Ekko.
A time skip is only one of the many hypotheses fans have come up with in response to each new season two trailer. Another common notion that gained hold early this year is that Vi and Jinx’s adored adopted father, Vander, may return as Warwick. Fans hypothesized that Vander (presumed deceased) could have been changed into the hideous Warwick. Upon those theories, there’s now an ever-growing list of all League champions rumored to appear in season two.
Vi’s joining the force, especially after the first season’s cliffhanger where Jinx blasted her rocket at the Piltover council, raises many issues. This means that the sisters did not reconcile during a probable time skip, and it appears that Vi is leading the drive to apprehend Jinx. The emotional complexities of Vi’s prospective role flip are building up to be another important plot point in the forthcoming Arcana season.
With ancient scars from the past and Jinx’s actions looming large, the stakes are higher than ever. Arcane is notorious for its sad plots and heartbreaking tales, and season two looks to continue this pattern.
Arcane’s second season is set to premiere on Netflix in November.
