EDG’s Second Day at Worlds: A Diary Entry

By Ishaan Khatri

Exploring French Cuisine in France

In the early morning, I opened my eyes to a brightening sky and a cool breeze. It was a new day in France, and my friends and I were excited to try some authentic French food. We headed to a small yet exotic-looking restaurant, known for its exquisite cuisine. The chef had an impressive two Michelin stars, a prestigious honor in the culinary world.

A Memorable Evening at the Restaurant

We indulged in a delightful dinner, savoring dishes like steak, roast chicken leg, rabbit leg, and lamb leg. However, one of our teammates, Koro, decided to be different and ordered fish with noodles. He ended up scavenging steak from his fellow players’ plates. We raised our glasses, toasting to the joyous moments in our lives and wishing for world peace.

Enjoying the Night in France

After our satisfying meal, we stepped out to find the moon illuminating the ground. Young people were enjoying themselves, radiating pure happiness. As I watched, I felt grateful for the joy these players brought into my life.

An Idiom and a Playful Game

Curious, I asked Deft if he had ever heard the idiom “to sit on a tree stump, waiting for rabbits.” As he consulted his translator for the meaning, he remarked that the rabbit in the idiom was as silly as our teammate Meiko. To lighten the mood, we played a game of rock, paper, scissors near a sphinx statue. The loser had to eat sour grapes, which led to some comical reactions.

In the end, our little turkey, AmazingJ, lost the game. Laughter filled the air as Clearlove, Deft, and I enjoyed our victory.

A Chaotic Car Ride and Fatherly Jokes

On our way back, Meiko and our translator wanted to ride with me, but it turned out they were avoiding a reckless driver. To ensure their safety, I gave the driver clear instructions. Clearlove, acting like a father figure, shared a joke that made everyone laugh, even though no one could recall the details.

Focused Practice and a Taste of Home

The next day, we arrived early at the practice area, determined to concentrate and improve our skills. For lunch, I had arranged for Chinese food to be delivered, which surprised and delighted our team. The sight of familiar dishes like beef with hot pepper and pork strip with stir-fried fish brought tears of joy to their eyes. We all enjoyed a satisfying meal, feeling re-energized.

A Fan’s Encounter with Faker

As we prepared for the upcoming competition, fans gathered outside, eagerly waiting to meet Faker. One fan, Luo Li, showed great enthusiasm, shouting “FAKER FAKER FAKER” when he arrived. Though Faker seemed unfamiliar with him, the two interacted like old friends. It was a heartwarming and unexpected moment.

With our jet lag fading and routines settling in, we looked forward to the start of the competition, hoping for good luck and success.
