League of Legends Patch 14.8 brings changes to the MSI update

The highly anticipated League of Legends Patch 14.8 is here, and it’s set to be a game-changer for the upcoming 2024 Mid-Season Invitational. This update will see nearly two dozen champions receive buffs, nerfs, and power-changing adjustments, adding more excitement and variety to the game.

Riot Games has confirmed that Patch 14.8 is the official update for the MSI, where twelve of the best teams, including G2 Esports, Team Liquid, and Gen.G, will compete for international glory in Chengdu next month.

However, Riot Games did not hold back on making changes to the game. In addition to the champion adjustments, neutral objectives like Voidgrubs and Baron Nashor are also getting some attention. The newly-reworked Skarner and popular pro play champions such as Azir, Akali, and Ryze will also experience modifications. Zeri, Jhin, Thresh, Zac, Mordekaiser, and more are part of the extensive list of changes.

When will League Patch 14.8 go live?

The official release date for League Patch 14.8 is set for Wednesday, April 17, according to the official Riot Games schedule. Players will have the opportunity to play on the new version for two weeks before the start of the MSI in May.

Here are the patching times for different regions:

  • 3pm CT (NA)
  • 5am GMT (EU West)
  • 3am CET (EU North East)
  • 8am KR (Korea)

During the patching process, players can expect several hours of server downtime. Matchmaking will be disabled across all League queues three hours prior to the live update.

What’s in League Patch 14.8?

Dozens of changes stuffed into MSI 2024 update

Riot Games is not holding back with the changes for the 2024 Mid-Season Invitational. Patch 14.8 will include a comprehensive list of changes, with two dozen adjustments planned for the update in April.

The changelist is quite extensive, with 16 buffs for popular picks like Graves, Gwen, Draven, Thresh, LeBlanc, Jhin, and more. On the flip side, a few champions like Azir, Briar, Zac, and Zeri will receive adjustments. Mordekaiser and Skarner will also see changes.

Baron Nashor is about to get stronger

Riot Games aims to make Baron Nashor a more formidable opponent in the mid-to-late game. The Baron’s attacks are getting buffed to provide a greater challenge for players. This change is intended to make the game’s most iconic neutral objective more challenging and require teams to work together to conquer it.

Three more champs join Blood Moon history

Blood Moon, one of League’s most renowned skin lines, is returning with a 2024 edition. Zed, Zyra, and Fiddlesticks are the lucky champions to receive new designs in this popular cosmetic range. These new skins, featuring red, purple, and black trim, add to the existing collection of Blood Moon skins available in-store, bringing the total count to 19.

Here are the new Blood Moon skins coming this patch:

  • Blood Moon Fiddlesticks (1,350 RP)
  • Blood Moon Zed (1,350 RP)
  • Blood Moon Zyra (1,350 RP)

These skins will be available during the Patch 14.8 cycle.

Please note that while most of these changes are expected to go live on the servers after PBE testing, the final changes are subject to modification or removal at any time.
