MultiVersus Welcomes a Robust Playerbase of 100,000+, Approaching Early Access Peak

The Resurgence of Multiversus: A Long-Awaited Launch

Multiversus, the highly anticipated Warner Bros. fighting game, has finally launched in full, bringing immense excitement and luring players back into its virtual arena. After gaining initial popularity in 2022, the game momentarily vanished from the public eye, leaving fans eager for its return.

The Controversial Move and Frustration Among Players

Last year, the developers of Multiversus made a bold and controversial decision. They withdrew the game from Early Access and temporarily shut down its servers, taking a conscious step to finalize its development before relaunching it. This isolationist approach sparked frustration among early players, given that the game was a for-purchase product that seemingly left them with an empty space in their Steam libraries.

Despite encountering server issues since its official relaunch, Multiversus has demonstrated remarkable resilience by quickly regaining its player base. On its launch day, the game peaked at over 114,000 concurrent players, slightly below its Early Access peak but still an impressive feat after being out of the public eye for almost two years.

During its early-access phase in July 2022, Multiversus reached an impressive milestone, surpassing 150,000 players, according to the playerbase-tracking site Steamcharts. The game’s ability to quickly regain its player count is commendable, particularly considering the persistent server issues that have plagued its recent relaunch. The influx of returning players has created a cyclical problem, hindering new players from joining.

During yesterday’s official launch, players faced confusion when encountering a “We’re down for maintenance” message upon logging into the game. However, this message primarily indicated a queueing system rather than actual maintenance. As the week progresses, we anticipate Multiversus to stabilize its player base, drawing in both curious newcomers and those who previously participated in the Early Access period.
