Return of Solos in Apex Legends Season 21
The year 2019 marked a significant era for Apex Legends as it entered its second season. Players eagerly anticipated the return of the Solos limited-time mode on Kings Canyon. After nearly five years, the Solos LTM is making a comeback in season 21.
Long-Awaited Reappearance
The revival of the Solos mode in Apex Legends has surprised many fans who had given up hope of its return. Despite previous statements from Respawn Entertainment about no plans for Solos, season 21 brings a revamped version of the mode inspired by other game modes like Control and Three Strikes.
A Fresh Take on Solos
According to Mike Button, the Apex events lead, the decision to reintroduce Solos stemmed from player demand and a desire to innovate the concept with new learnings. The revamped Solos LTM in season 21 will run for the first six weeks, taking over the battle royale Duos queue.
The latest iteration of Solos introduces respawn tokens, allowing players to respawn once within the first four rounds of a match. Additionally, players who eliminate an enemy will receive an auto-heal, keeping the gameplay dynamic and fast-paced.
Enhanced Gameplay Features
One of the notable new mechanics in Solos is the “battle sense,” which notifies players when an enemy is within a 50-meter radius. This feature has led to engaging interactions during playtesting, offering players a recon-like experience regardless of their character choice.
While the revamped Solos mode is expected to be well-received, Respawn will closely monitor player feedback and explore the possibility of integrating new mechanics from LTMs into future legend abilities.
Emphasis on Team Play
Button reassured players that the focus on team play, particularly in trios, remains central to the Apex Legends experience. The return of Solos in season 21 does not signify a shift away from this core belief but acknowledges the community’s interest in diverse gameplay options.
Prepare to watch your own back when Solos debuts in season 21 during Upheaval on May 7. With no teammates to rely on, strategic gameplay and quick decision-making will be key.
