G2 Esports Announces League of Legends Roster for 2022

G2 Esports Reveals New League of Legends Roster for 2022 Season

G2 Esports has unveiled their League of Legends roster for the upcoming 2022 season. After a disappointing 2021 season in which they missed out on the World Championship, the team has made some significant changes to their lineup.

New Additions and Change in Strategy

To strengthen their top and bottom lanes, G2 has brought in veteran top laner Broken Blade from Schalke 04. In a departure from their usual approach of signing established top-level talent, the team will now feature Spanish AD carry Victor “Flakked” Lirola and Belgian support Raphaël “Targamas” Crabbé. Flakked, a rookie, previously played for MAD Lions Madrid in the Spanish SuperLiga, while Targamas has excelled in the ERLs and even won back-to-back EU Masters titles.

Experience and Rebuilding

It’s worth noting that Targamas does have some experience playing at the highest level, having been part of Giants Gaming in the EU LCS during the 2018 Spring Split.

Changes in Leadership and Expectations

G2 had high hopes for the 2021 season after acquiring superstar AD carry Rekkles. However, the team fell short of expectations and finished third and fourth in the LEC Spring and Summer Split playoffs, respectively. As a result, G2’s owner decided to make significant changes, with Rekkles moving to Karmine Corp, top laner Wunder and support Mikyx becoming free agents (with Wunder reportedly joining Fnatic), and former head coach Grabbz being replaced by Dylan Falco.

The LEC will return on Jan. 14, so fans can watch G2 and other European teams in action.
