Fnatic recruits former G2 Esports top laner Expect

Fnatic signs former G2 Esports top laner Expect

Fnatic, one of the top teams in the European LCS, has officially announced the signing of Ki “Expect” Dae-han, the former top laner for G2 Esports. The news was shared on Fnatic’s Facebook page earlier today.

Expect will be taking on a substitute role with the team and will participate in a bootcamp in South Korea with them. This bootcamp will likely take place before the start of the World Championships. There is also a possibility that Expect may be chosen as the team’s sixth man for the tournament, instead of star player Martin “Rekkles” Larsson, as teams are only allowed to bring one substitute.

Rekkles, despite being Fnatic’s main win condition in the spring, has not played in the Summer Split since week one. The team has been successful utilizing two top laners, Paul “Soaz” Boyer and Gabriël “Bwipo” Rau. Thus, it is reasonable to assume that Expect may be chosen as an alternate for the World Championships.

Fnatic currently holds the advantage in securing a spot at the World Championships. By winning the Spring Split, Fnatic has accumulated the most championship points in the league, making them the favorites to repeat as champions. They are currently considered the strongest team in the EU LCS, having defeated the undefeated Misfits Gaming squad a few weeks ago.

Expect, a three-time EU LCS champion with G2 Esports, has an impressive track record. He was also a member of the Origen squad that won the EU Masters tournament earlier this year. However, the competition in the EU LCS is fierce, so it may take some time before we see Expect perform on the main stage.
