Wings Gaming Rebrands After Payment Issues

The team that won the biggest prize pool in esports history has undergone a rebranding due to alleged unpaid salaries.

In 2016, Wings Gaming achieved recognition as one of the top Dota 2 teams in the world. Their victory at the International 6 earned them a massive $9.1 million prize money, making the roster the most successful esports competitors in terms of earnings.

The team, now known as Random Gaming, will be participating in the upcoming Kiev Major. However, the tournament’s official compendium currently lists them as Random Gaming instead of Wings Gaming. An official announcement is expected soon, but rumors have already surfaced on Chinese community sites and the Dota 2 subreddit.

These rumors primarily revolve around financial mismanagement and disagreements between the players and Wings owner. Allegedly, the owner wanted to claim 40 percent of the team’s winnings from the International 6, which amounts to approximately $2 million. These claims have not been independently verified by .

Random Gaming will make their debut under their new name at the Kiev Major, which will be held from April 24 to 30.
