Vici Gaming continued their dominance in the playoffs of the Dota 2 Professional League Season 6. LGD Gaming’s withdrawal made Vici the only undefeated team. Vici had a bye in the first round due to their 5-0 record in the Group Stage.
Invictus Gaming beat iG Vitality 2-0 to move forward, but Vici swept them in less than 60 minutes. Vici’s strong offense and map control put them in the Upper Bracket Finals. On the other side, EHOME defeated Newbee in a close 2-1 match.
Newbee won game one in a 41-minute battle, but fell apart in game two. EHOME capitalized on the opportunity and equalized the score. EHOME kept their momentum and won the reversal 2-1. This victory allowed EHOME to skip the next round, avoiding elimination.
However, EHOME faced Vici in the next match and lost 2-0. Vici’s dominance placed them straight into the Grand Finals. EHOME dropped into the Lower Bracket and faced Invictus for a chance at redemption. EHOME won and secured a rematch against Vici in the finals.
Unfortunately, EHOME couldn’t defeat Vici and lost the DPL Season 6 title with a 3-0 series defeat. As the top two finishers, Vici and EHOME received invites to MDL Macau 2019 and a spot in DPL Season 7. The other top 10 teams also received invitations to DPL Season 7.
The Chongqing Major, the next stage of the Dota Pro Circuit, will begin on January 19, marking the return of Dota 2 in a big way.
