New Kids on the Block: LGD Forever Young at The International 7
This is a profile of LGD Forever Young, one of the 18 teams participating in The International 7 on Aug. 2.
‘Academy’ teams have been a new trend in the Chinese gaming scene. LGD.Forever Young is one such team, along with iG Vitality and VG Potential. The team features popular players like Xie “Super” Junhao and Tue “Ahfu” Soon Chuan.
At the Mars Dota 2 League grand finals, LGD.Forever Young showcased their talent and earned their spot at The International 7. They secured the qualifier slot, surpassing their sister team LGD Gaming.
Despite being the newcomers, the team members have prior experience. Super was part of the TI4 grand finalist team ViCi Gaming, while Leong “ddc” Fat-meng has attended every International so far.
LFY has the advantage of practicing regularly with the A-team, LGD. This helps the younger team improve their skills and tactics to face tough competition in the tournament.
LFY has the potential to surprise everyone at TI7. With their mix of young and experienced players, strong leadership, and chemistry, they have a realistic shot at breaking into the top eight.
Player to Watch: Monet
Monet is a highly skilled carry player, often compared to wunderkind players like Anathan “ana” Pham and Abed “Abed” Yusop. However, his consistency may be a concern on Dota’s biggest stage.
Biggest Challenge
LFY will face tough competition and have a difficult journey. Compared to LGD, they don’t have recent results to support their performance. They will need to overcome obstacles and prove themselves at the tournament.
Team Grade: C+
LGD Forever Young is a promising team, but they lack the championship title that LGD has. They need to improve their ability to close out matches in order to make a deep run at TI7.
