Battle Pass for Dota 2’s Annual Tournament is Finally Here!
The wait is over for Dota 2 fans as the Battle Pass for the annual world championship tournament has been released. Valve has just released a patch that includes the Battle Pass in preparation for The International 8 in August.
What does the Battle Pass include?
The Battle Pass offers a variety of cosmetic items, exclusive features, and Immortal-quality hero equipment. Similar to previous Battle Passes, this year’s version includes a leveling system that unlocks additional content and bonus features the higher you go.
Two Options to Choose From
There are two options available for players to purchase the Battle Pass. The level one Battle Pass costs $9.99 and includes the first Immortal Treasure, access to the Arcana Vote, the TI8 Compendium, and other freebies like the TI8 in-game cursor pack. For $19.99, players can buy a level 75 Battle Pass that includes additional rewards such as four more Immortal Treasures, special effects for items like Blink Dagger, a level two TI8-exclusive courier, and much more.
Exciting New Features
With the Battle Pass, players gain access to new “player experience” features like role-based matchmaking. For the first time, Dota 2 offers players the option to choose between safe lane, mid lane, offlane, and support roles when queuing up, allowing them to inform their teammates of their preferred position. It’s important to note that this version of role-based matchmaking still allows players to choose any hero from the pool.
Introducing “The Underhollow” PvE Mode
The Battle Pass includes a thrilling new PvE mode called “The Underhollow.” It’s a Battle Royale mode where teams of three players fight to be the last ones standing and compete for cheese. Roshan serves as the “safe zone” circle, similar to other popular games like Fortnite and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. Winners of this mode will receive Battle Pass levels as their reward.
TI8 Compendium and Prize Pool
The TI8 Compendium allows Battle Pass owners to make tournament predictions, participate in the Fantasy Challenge using player cards, predict the playoff bracket, and more. Additionally, 25% of all Battle Pass sales contribute to the tournament’s prize pool. Within just one hour of the launch, the prize pool reached almost $3 million, with the community contributing around $500,000. This is an impressive achievement considering last year’s prize pool was already larger than the previous year’s.
If you’re interested, you can purchase the Battle Pass through the in-game store or on the Dota 2 website’s Battle Pass webpage.
