Team Secret Triumphs over Virtus Pro in The Chongqing Major Grand Finals
After losing three series to Virtus Pro in previous Dota Pro Circuit events, Team Secret was determined to change the narrative in The Chongqing Major grand finals. They faced Virtus Pro once again after defeating Evil Geniuses in the lower bracket finals.
The key to Team Secret’s success in this match was their outstanding teamwork and the exceptional play by Yazied “YapzOr” Jaradat. In game one, Secret dominated with a 7-0-7 performance from Michał “Nisha” Jankowski, setting the stage for the second game. YapzOr took a risk with his hero pick, using a support Luna, and it paid off. Secret achieved the fastest victory of the entire Major, with YapzOr contributing four kills and 16 assists in just 17 minutes.
In a post-match interview with VPEsports, YapzOr explained his decision to use Luna as a support hero against one of the world’s top teams. Despite not winning the second game, YapzOr and Ludwig “zai” Wåhlberg showed their skills in the final two matches. In game three, they combined for 15 kills and 33 assists. However, VP’s Vladimir “No[o]ne” Minenko’s impressive stats of 15-4-12 were too much for Secret to overcome.
Nevertheless, YapzOr and zai’s contributions, with nearly 40 assists, helped Secret secure their first trophy of the 2018-19 DPC season. With this victory, Team Secret is now tied with Virtus Pro for first place on the DPC ranking board.
