Team Secret Makes Roster Changes Ahead of DreamLeague Season 20

Team Secret has made changes to its Dota 2 roster in response to another relegation in the summer split of the Dota Pro Circuit. The team has parted ways with Miroslav “BOOM” Bičan and has brought in Saieful “Fbz” Ilham from Southeast Asia. In a post-match interview on June 12, Clement “Puppey” Ivanov explained the reasons behind this decision.

Puppey was asked about his hopes for Secret’s offlaner switch in DreamLeague Season 20. He emphasized that BOOM was not originally an offlane player, as he had spent years playing in the mid-lane. BOOM was put in an uncomfortable position by switching roles, as offlane was not his primary role. Despite his best efforts, BOOM lacked the essential qualities that successful offlane players possess.

Puppey added, “Offlaners search for these weirdo things, or they know exactly what’s necessary to be done.” He also mentioned that although BOOM has potential to become a good offlaner, it would require a significant amount of time for him to fully adapt to the role.

The time constraint was crucial for Puppey, as Secret faced the risk of compromising its legacy. The team had been relegated twice in the 2023 DPC, which means they cannot directly qualify for The International 2023. Instead, they will have to go through the qualifiers. With limited time before the qualifiers, Secret had to bring in native role players to salvage as much as possible from the 2023 season.
