Team Liquid Captain KuroKy Plays Every Dota 2 Hero in Professional Matches
Kuro “KuroKy” Salehi Takhasomi, the captain of Team Liquid, has achieved a remarkable feat in Dota 2. Prior to their match against Alliance, KuroKy only had two remaining heroes on his list to play: Meepo and Templar Assassin. However, he successfully played both heroes in Team Liquid’s seed matches for the upcoming Chongqing Major, eliminating them from his unplayed list.
KuroKy first picked Meepo in the match, which Team Liquid won. He then switched to Templar Assassin for the second match. Although Team Liquid lost that match, they secured a victory in the third match, earning the second-place seed. Since March, KuroKy has been working on completing his list of unplayed heroes, taking over the record with 108 heroes played from former Evil Geniuses player Clinton “Fear” Loomis.

Like any competitive game, Dota 2 has a constantly changing meta where heroes go in and out of popularity. Players usually have comfort picks and mains, the heroes they can rely on to perform well. KuroKy has his own comfort picks, but he has also shown a dedication to being flexible, even in high-stakes professional matches. He may never play Templar Assassin or Meepo again, now that he has completed the challenge, but he will continue to be an exciting and flexible player to watch.
Throughout his career, KuroKy has played various roles, which likely contributes to his ability to play a wide range of heroes. Although he primarily plays support for Team Liquid, his Dota 2 hero record proves that he can play any hero when needed.
KuroKy’s achievement feels fitting considering his long history with Dota 2. He has been playing the game since 2010 and currently holds the title of highest-earning player by a significant margin. KuroKy is also one of only three Dota pros who have competed in every International tournament since its inception, alongside Team Secret’s Clement “Puppey” Ivanov and Team Root’s Leong “ddc” Fat-meng. He secured his first and only International win last year when Team Liquid swept Newbee 3-0 in the grand finals.
Dota 2 developer Valve has announced a new hero, Mars, expected to be released in 2018. KuroKy will have to play Mars in competitive matches upon release if he wants to maintain his title of having played every Dota 2 hero in professional play.
