Digital Chaos Parts Ways with Dota 2 Roster, Looks to Other Esports Titles
North American esports organization Digital Chaos has announced that their Dota 2 roster, which consisted of the former Animal Planet lineup, has been released from their contracts. The players have decided to pursue other opportunities. The roster included well-known players like David “MoonMeander” Tan and Kurtis “Aui_2000” Ling.
This news comes just over a month after Animal Planet joined Digital Chaos. The move was not surprising, as Animal Planet had already been released from Canadian organization Iceberg Esports due to accusations of failure to compensate players in accordance with their contracts. Aui_2000 confirmed these accusations.
The roster’s performance in NA regional qualifiers in March also played a role in their departure. They consistently struggled against top-tier teams like Evil Geniuses and even tier two teams at the time, such as OpTic Gaming and CompLexity Gaming.
Digital Chaos CEO Greg “WhatIsHip” Laird expressed his thoughts on the announcement on Twitter. He pointed out perceived issues with the current Pro Circuit system, including a lack of competition below the top tier, event scheduling, and roster lock mechanics. These factors likely influenced the players’ decision to part ways.
Laird also mentioned that Digital Chaos will be focusing on other esports titles in the near future. However, he made it clear that they are open to the Dota 2 scene and will always be searching for a new squad.
Overall, Digital Chaos has bid farewell to their Dota 2 roster and is shifting its attention to other esports titles for now.
