The Rise of Fnatic in the Southeast Asian Dota 2 Scene
The Southeast Asian Dota 2 scene has always produced top-level competitors, and this season is no different. Fnatic has emerged as the standout team in the region. They currently rank sixth globally on GosuGamer’s rankings for Dota 2 teams, following their sixth-place finish in The Chongqing Major. With an eighth place finish at The Kuala Lumpur Major last year, Fnatic comfortably holds the top spot in the SEA region.
Fierce Competition: TNC Predator in the Mix
While Fnatic may be dominating the region, TNC Predator proves to be their only real competition at the moment. However, TNC Predator is currently facing roster issues of their own. Their disappointing 12th place finish in Chongqing has led to changes in the roster. Sitting at a strong 10th place in the global rankings, TNC Predator finds themselves on a downward trend.
Carlo ‘Kuku’ Palad Returns, but TNC Predator Struggles
TNC Predator’s hopes were high as Carlo ‘Kuku’ Palad returned to the active roster after being banned from attending The Chongqing Major. However, even with Kuku back, the team was eliminated on the first day of the SEA qualifiers for the next Major. Following the event, TNC Predator announced that Michael ‘ninjaboogie’ Ross would no longer be part of the team. These setbacks have pushed TNC Predator to search for a new direction for their roster.
Mineski and Tigers Looking to Challenge
While TNC Predator deals with their struggles, other teams in the region are making moves to challenge Fnatic’s dominance. Mineski, with the addition of Lai “AhJit” Jay Son, has shown significant improvement. They performed exceptionally well in the DreamLeague qualifiers, even taking a game off Fnatic. Tigers, with legendary players Chai “Mushi” Yee Fung and Danil “Dendi” Ishutin, have potential despite their initial failure to make the closed qualifiers for DreamLeague.
As the competition heats up, TNC Predator will have another chance at making DreamLeague Season 11 by fighting through the open qualifiers and trying to secure a spot in the StarLadder ImbaTV Dota 2 Minor.
