BurNIng’s Iconic Anti-Mage Makes Waves on Day One of the Kiev Major

Chinese Dota 2 Star Shines at Kiev Major

In a remarkable display of skill, Xu “BurNIng” Zhilei, the most famous Dota 2 player from China, showed off his mastery of the game during the first day of the Kiev Major. Representing Invictus Gaming, BurNIng delivered an incredible performance on his signature hero, Anti-Mage, in a match against rivals OG.

Early Success for OG

OG, recently defeated by Invictus Gaming in the Dota 2 Asia Championship grand finals, seemed to have a strong start in the match. They secured the first two kills and consistently picked off players from Invictus Gaming. Additionally, they won teamfights against the Chinese team for the majority of the game.

However, despite OG’s dominance, they were never able to pull ahead in terms of gold. BurNIng’s greedy item build, opting for Hand of Midas early on, allowed his Anti-Mage to amass so much gold that even if OG won teamfights, it barely affected the gold graph. By avoiding fights and constantly farming, BurNIng’s Anti-Mage became unbeatable for OG.

The Turning Point

After roughly 40 minutes and with a scoreline of 26-5 in favor of OG, Invictus Gaming won their first decisive teamfight. From that moment on, the game crumbled for OG, with Invictus Gaming wiping out the entire OG side and taking control of their base.

BurNIng’s Masterclass Performance

BurNIng’s performance was nothing short of incredible. He earned around 1040 gold per minute, placing him in the top three of all-time GPM ratings in competitive Dota 2 (excluding the hero Alchemist).

On the other hand, OG once again failed to defeat Invictus Gaming, who now appear to be the favorites to claim the lion’s share of the $3 million prize pool at the Kiev Major.
