DetonatioN FocusMe Makes History as First Japanese Team to Reach League of Legends World Championship Group Stage

DetonatioN FocusMe (DFM) has made history by becoming the first Japanese team to qualify for the group stage at a League of Legends World Championship. In a thrilling tiebreaker match against Cloud9, DFM secured their spot in the history books.

DFM entered the game as the hottest team in the play-in stage, winning all their must-win matches in dominant fashion. Their only loss was against Cloud9, but they had plenty of momentum on their side.

C9, on the other hand, suffered an unexpected loss to the LCL’s Unicorns of Love earlier in the day. Despite their macro skills, C9 couldn’t capitalize on their success from yesterday and stumbled in multiple instances throughout the day.

Although DFM found themselves down by almost 3,000 gold by the 20-minute mark, their superior teamfighting skills helped them secure victory against C9. They showcased their ability to excel in five-vs-five fights on Summoner’s Rift.

The only positive for C9 fans was that their macro skills looked decent. Despite losing early skirmishes, C9 managed to stay even by securing dragons and other objectives.

For LJL fans, DFM’s qualification to the group stage is a momentous occasion. They will eagerly await the completion of the knockout stage games to find out which group DFM will be placed in. As for NA fans, they will have to wait and see if C9 will face RED Canids or PEACE.

Make sure to tune in tomorrow at 6am CT for the first elimination series of Worlds 2021 between Galatasaray Esports and Beyond Gaming.
