The first Counter-Strike 2 Major has concluded, and now all eyes are on the next season of competition, which kicks off in China with IEM Chengdu in April. Sixteen teams from all over the world will converge, battling it out for a spot in the prestigious Wuliangye Chengdu Performing Arts Centre.
With teams like FaZe Clan, G2 Esports, C9, VP, Lynn Vision, and TYLOO in the mix, the competition is set to be intense. The stakes are incredibly high, as the winner of the Chinese tournament will secure their spot at IEM Cologne in August.
IEM Chengdu 2024 CS2 format
IEM Chengdu 2024 will feature a GSL-style double-elimination group stage. However, there is a slight twist: only three teams will qualify for the playoffs, with both upper-bracket finalists progressing.
The winner of the upper bracket final will proceed directly to the playoff semifinals, while the upper bracket runner-up and the lower bracket qualifier will start the playoffs in the quarterfinals. Group stage matches will be decided through best-of-one rounds, while subsequent matches will be best-of-three.
