Cloud9 Secures First Place in LCS Spring Split, Heads into Mid-Season Showdown as Top Seed
Cloud9 emerged victorious in the final weekend of the LCS Spring Split, eliminating the need for tiebreakers. Their dominant win against Immortals secured first place for Cloud9, cementing their position as the top team since the beginning of the regular season.
This victory grants Cloud9 the highest seed in the upcoming Mid-Season Showdown, while TSM and Team Liquid missed their chance to climb to the top, finishing in second and third place respectively.
Cloud9 utilized a methodical approach in today’s match. They built a late-game composition around Zven’s Tristana pick, effectively stalling the game until the 36-minute mark. Eventually, Cloud9 secured the Infernal Soul and wiped out Immortals in a five-for-zero teamfight.
In the Mid-Season Showdown, Cloud9 will face 100 Thieves, a team they have defeated twice this spring. However, their previous best-of-five encounter with 100 Thieves was a nail-biter that required a reverse sweep from Cloud9 to secure victory during the LCS Lock In tournament earlier this year.
The Mid-Season Showdown will commence on Saturday, March 20, marking the return of LCS action.
