Safer Gambling Week Promoted by Bacta Members
Bacta members across the country are supporting Safer Gambling Week, an initiative that aims to promote responsible gambling from November 13th to 19th. This event, backed by bacta, the Betting and Gaming Council, the Lotteries Council, and the Bingo Association, emphasizes the safety measures implemented by the regulated gaming industry, in contrast to the unlicensed black market.
During this week, there will be a widespread dissemination of safer gambling messages both online and in physical venues, initiating a nationwide dialogue about responsible gambling. The event website encourages individuals to discuss and take action for responsible betting. It provides a set of questions to consider and offers guidance on using safer gambling tools such as time and deposit limits, as well as self-exclusion.
John White, the CEO of bacta, stated, “We are thrilled to support Safer Gambling Week, which brings attention to the efforts made by bacta members every day of the year. The well-being of our customers is of utmost importance.” He further highlighted the Bacta Social Responsibility Exchange that took place in October, where consumer-facing staff shared their experiences in assisting the small number of players who face gambling-related issues.
“Our sector provides responsible gambling entertainment to players nationwide, and the initiatives implemented by our members have significantly reduced the number of individuals experiencing problems,” added White. Following the Bacta SR Exchange and Safer Gambling Week, the message will be carried forward at the Bacta Annual Convention on November 22nd and the Safer Gambling Hub at the bacta-owned EAG Expo from January 16th to 18th, 2024, which will host 11 safer gambling organizations.
